Methodological analysis of the spanish production on doctoral thesis in mathematical education (1976-1998)

This study shows a comprehensive vision of the Mathematics Education at methodological level, using as base the doctoral dissertations (thesis) accomplished in Spanish universities between the years 1976-1998. A central finding of this study has been the design of an evaluation methodological instrument, which will be useful for the future analysis of research. In addition general recommendations are offered with the aim to improve quality of the research in Mathematics Education.

The aim of this work is the development of a model that can be used as a framework for evaluators and PhD tribunal members, either during the previous administrative processing phase or at the actual exposition and viva on doctoral dissertations. To this end, once reviewed the existing literature and normative, a new proposal is laid out on the main aspects and criteria to be analysed and assessed from any given scientific work, thus introducing a tool that facilitates and specifies this work. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar los derechos de propiedad intelectual sobre los trabajos elaborados por quienes cursan estudios universitarios, con particular referencia a los TFG, TFM y tesis doctorales que se realizan en el ámbito de la ciencia jurídica. Para ello, en primer lugar, se examina la posibilidad de que el trabajo de investigación sea merecedor de la condición de obra; en segundo lugar, se clarifica la cuestión relativa a la titularidad de los derechos de autor sobre estos trabajos; y, en tercer lugar, se reflexiona en torno a la obligación de dejar las obras en repositorios institucionales de acceso abierto.
